It seems to me that the email from discourse do a lot of unneeded reformatting of messages, duplicating them and adding a lot of boilerplate. See for example:

Yes, you can limit the amount of ‘recap discussion’ that’s being included in the mails.
It’s in the preferences/settings panel.
